Product Candidates
We are committed to discovering and developing sirtuin drug candidates with the potential to make meaningful impact on the lives of patients.
SRT501, a SIRT1 activator, is our proprietary formulation of resveratrol with improved bioavailability. We believe that SIRT1 activation has therapeutic potential for patients with Type 2 Diabetes and other diseases of aging. In two Phase I human clinical trials, SRT501 was found to be safe and well tolerated. In two Phase IIa human clinical trials, SRT501 also lowered glucose and improved insulin sensitivity of patients with Type 2 Diabetes. We are currently testing SRT501 in combination with metformin in a Phase IIa study with Type 2 Diabetic patients, as well as testing SRT501 in a Phase IIa trial in cancer.
In addition to SRT501, we have also discovered many novel small molecule activators of SIRT1. Our new chemical entities (NCEs) have been shown to lower glucose and improve insulin sensitivity in multiple preclinical models of Type 2 Diabetes, and therefore have the potential to be frontline therapy. These small molecules are structurally unrelated to resveratrol and up to 1,000 fold more potent. The first of these NCEs to enter the clinic is SRT2104, which was found to be safe and well tolerated in a Phase I trial in healthy volunteers.
